Why this helps

A contracted feeling narrows the field of vision; the steady gaze surfaces it and lets it release.

In the moment

The charge releases and clarity returns.

Over time

A fast, repeatable way to clear under-200 fields.

The practice

Letting go through the eyes corrects spiritual vision by dissolving the contracted lenses that filter how you see. Rooted in tratak — Sanskrit for "gaze," described in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika as staring at a small point until tears are shed — you stare unblinking at a focal point with one-pointed mind.

  • All manner of under-200 fields can be processed out this way — shame, guilt, fear, anger, grief, and more, including what you cannot name at the start.
  • Spirit vision is diffuse and whole-oriented; the ego fixates on specifics and linear detail.
  • When energy releases: the eyes may water and pulse, the image may vibrate — then clarity returns and the world looks bright again.
  • No force — only the decision to see it through. Usually done in under a minute.
Read the steps first

"The ego is oriented toward specifics and the linear content of the field of vision… Spirit is oriented toward context and the whole… Its field is diffuse rather than local." — Hawkins. Rooted in the tratak gaze tradition.

When to use it

  • Any contracted under-200 field — not limited to one emotion you can label
  • When vision feels narrowed, sticky, or obsessively focused
  • When you want a fast, concentrated surrender practice
  • When stillness and analysis have not discharged the charge

Instructions

  1. Select and focus — choose a small, bright point. A candle flame in a dark room works best; a watch second hand or glint of light also works. Holding your eyes open with your fingers at first is a reasonable stepping stone.
  2. Maintain concentration — stare without blinking with one-pointed mind. Notice discomfort and the urge to blink as contracted energy surfaces.
  3. Release and observe — allow watery eyes, pulsing, vibration, and distortion of the image. Stay with it without forcing.
  4. Conclude — when you feel release and clarity, blink and relax. Often ~25–60 seconds.
